I’m terrible about drinking water. I’ll go through phases where I’ll make an effort to drink more, but for the most part I only drink three glasses on a good day. Then this article came out about a woman who began drinking three liters of water a day and, within a month, looked ten years younger. Obviously I’m not trying to appear ten years younger, but I figure if I’m spending absurd amounts on skincare products, the least I can do is drink some frickin’ water.
When I was in high school I babysat the three sweetest little French girls. Their family always kept a jug in the fridge of cold water with slices of cucumber. Sometimes I just find water to be so booooring… which is maybe a silly thing to say about the thing that sustains not only my body, but all lifeforms on this entire planet. In any case, the slices of cucumber give the water a refreshing, subtle flavor and makes the drinks more of a treat. Far better than reaching for juice when I’m thirsty.
- 15 cups of water
- 1 large cucumber
- Mint (optional)
Slice the cucumber into 1/4 inch slices. Put them in a pitcher and fill with water (can be filtered, if you prefer). You can also toss in some slices of mint, if you’d like extra flavor. Mix it all together. Then place it in the fridge for at least an hour. Enjoy over the next few days!
