So I’m not exactly ringing in the New Year on a high note for Oddly Lovely. Not only have I failed to get my monthly Stitch Fix and Really Cool Stuff posts out on time, I came down with a terrible cold, which postponed the posts and any effort on this blog even more. I haven’t tweeted in days or responded to anyone’s thoughtful comment, but I blog for fun, dammit. I don’t do this professionally, I do this in my spare time and for my own personal enjoyment, which means sometimes the holidays and my health come first.
Anyways, here is my tenth Stitch Fix box, just four days late! For those of you who don’t know what Stitch Fix is, it’s a subscription box clothing service where for $20 a box, you receive a personal stylist who will send you a selection of clothes picked out specifically for you. Then, you keep what you want and return the rest, while the $20 down payment can be used as a discount against any clothes that you keep.
Unfortunately this wasn’t exactly a high note for my Stitch Fix subscription either. Nothing I was sent truly wow-ed me, although I acknowledge that last month was probably my best box yet, so maybe I just have unrealistic expectations now? Check out what I was sent below.
Mystree Bolina Side Slit Detail Sweater, $78 – Returned
I liked this sweater and it fulfilled my request for more long-sleeves, but it was a little baggy on me and made me look bigger than I actually was unless I wore it with leggings. Reg kindly said he wasn’t crazy about it on me, so that combined with the steep price made me send it back.
Just Black Adorra Skinny Jean, $88 – Kept
I wear jeans almost every day, which means I can pretty much always use another pair. These weren’t anything very special, but I liked the very dark blue color and the very reasonable price. I’ll need to get them hemmed, but in the meantime I’ve worn them several times.
Look by M Mateo Fringe Edge Infinity Scarf, $34 – Returned
This was cute and the price was reasonable, but I just didn’t need another scarf, so back it went.
Loveappella Mani Long Sleeve Button Back Mix Media Knit Top, $58 – Returned
I’ve got a funny thing against tops that have a backside that’s a completely different fabric than the front side. This was a pretty flattering top, but life is too short to have clothing in a style you don’t like.
RD Style Meredith Faux Leather Elbow Patch Cardigan, $68 – Returned
I would have loved this cardigan if it wasn’t for the fact that the faux leather elbow patches looked so cheap! It was very warm, a lovely color, and I don’t have anything in this style. I actually like elbow patches in general, but not if they look like plastic. I almost toyed with the idea of trying to remove the patches myself, but it seemed silly to spend $68 on an item that needed changes.
Do you agree with my choice to keep the jeans? Anything else jump out at you?
