It’s June 1st, which means not only is it my mama bear’s b-day (Happy Birthday, Mama!) it’s also Stitch Fix day here at Oddly Lovely!
For those of you who don’t know what Stitch Fix is, it’s a subscription box clothing service where for $20 a box, you receive a personal stylist who will send you a selection of clothes picked out specifically for you. Then, you keep what you want and return the rest, while the $20 down payment can be used as a discount against any clothes that you keep.
Unfortunately, like last month, this month was a little bit of a bust too. I know that my amazing stylist, Ariann, “gets” my look, so I’m guessing she just doesn’t have stellar items to choose from for me at this time of year. I always have trouble shopping in the spring and summer because patterns and colors tend to be brighter and I prefer a more neutral palette. Still, I found one item this time that was worth keeping.
Flip through the collection to see what I received in my June 2016 Stitch Fix:
London Times Maebe Jersey Maxi Dress, $58 – Returned
This dress was WOW in terms of cut. I didn’t really style it here because I knew I wasn’t keeping it, but it was very, very figuring flattering in the waist and was also a comfortable material. Still, this was so not my sort of pattern. Not only am I not crazy about super busy prints, I’m really not a fan of anything neon. I knew this was headed back before I even pulled it out of the box.
Loveappella Lainey Printed Skirt, $58 – Returned
This was solidly my second favorite item in the box. I own no skirts with cuts just above the knee, and I actually really like it! The fabric was super soft and I felt very comfortable in it. Still, as with the previous dress, this was just not the right pattern for me. Perhaps if it had been green and brown or blue and purple, but the black and red just isn’t my go-to combo.
Skies are Blue Revelio Crochet Trim Top, $48 – Returned
I didn’t think I’d like this one as much as I did! Once I got it on, I noticed how well it fit and surprisingly flattering it was cut. Still, I wasn’t a huge fan of the blue pattern and the lace on the bottom felt a little random and smacked on (even though I’m generally a big fan of lace, as Ariann knows). I need some more warm weather clothing, but this just wasn’t right.
See U Soon Edmund Crochet Detail Top, $64 – Returned
Nope nope nope, I don’t like anything about this top. Looking at the style card photo, I see why Ariann picked it out for me, but it was not flattering at all once I got it on. The detailing felt weird and random, I looked pregnant, and I’m generally not fond of white anyways. No thanks!
Collective Concepts Elma Crochet Cotton Top, $48 – Kept
While a little expensive for a “vest” style top, this is definitely more my style. I know that I can use it to spice up my typical uniform of jeans and a tee, since I usually do the same thing with a scarf in the winter. I don’t have anything like it, so while it wasn’t an A+ choice, it does make me happy.
What do you think of my June Stitch Fix? Do you agree with my selection or prefer another item instead?
